The City of Savannah is preparing to host its 24th annual Earth Day Festival on April 19 at Daffin Park. The event, organized by the City of Savannah Office of Sustainability in collaboration with the Lite Foot Environmental Foundation, carries the theme "Healthy Planet, Healthy People."
According to the official announcement, the festival aims to raise awareness about the importance of healthy food, clean air and water, and global biodiversity in supporting human health. This year's event is expected to be the largest environmental outreach gathering in Savannah and a significant educational platform for Earth Day in Georgia.
Joanne Morton, an art enthusiast, will present an immersive community engagement art project called the Make Earth Day Every Day Manifesting Mobile at the festival. The project, crafted from recycled materials, seeks to inspire positive visions for the planet and encourage participants to reflect on their role in building a sustainable future.
In addition to educational workshops by the Office of Sustainability, attendees will have the opportunity to explore ways to improve their home's energy efficiency or participate in the Georgia BRIGHT program, which promotes leasing solar panels for sustainable energy solutions.
The festival promises a variety of activities for all ages, including children's activities, food trucks, and local nonprofit vendors, ensuring a fun-filled evening for families. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Daffin Park located at 1 Waring Dr.
