The City of Savannah is set to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Summerside Park to inaugurate the City's first public fitness zone. The new fitness zone boasts 11 outdoor exercise stations, providing a variety of workout options for residents. According to the announcement, the fitness zone aligns with recommendations for a comprehensive workout, catering to different fitness aspects such as aerobic fitness, muscle strength, core training, balance, and flexibility. The inclusive design of the zone ensures that individuals of all abilities can exercise together.
In addition to the exercise stations, the project includes amenities such as new signage, walkways, benches, and water fountains. The investment, totaling nearly $103,000, was allocated to Aldermanic District 5 and was made possible through the Rec-ReImgained Initiative approved by the City Council in 2021.
The ribbon-cutting event is scheduled to take place on May 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Summerside Park located at 4113 Clinch St. The inauguration marks an important milestone for the community, providing a dedicated space for outdoor fitness activities and promoting a healthy lifestyle for residents of Savannah.
