House Speaker Jon Burns has announced the formation of three blue-ribbon study committees to explore important policy areas affecting Georgia. These committees will focus on election procedures, medical marijuana and hemp policies, and insurance rates.

"During the 2025 legislative session, members of the General Assembly considered a number of bills aimed at providing clarity on these issues that directly impact the lives of our fellow Georgians and the future of our state," stated Speaker Burns. "During the interim, these study committees will meet to gather the facts, hear from stakeholders and determine a path forward for 2026."

The Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Election Procedures will review and assess existing laws and methods used in Georgia's electoral processes. Its aim is to evaluate the security and effectiveness of the voting system in preparation for the elections next November.

A separate committee will examine Georgia's Medical Marijuana and Hemp Policies. This group will focus on the state's current laws, policies, and practices regarding medical marijuana and hemp products. The goal is to ensure patient and consumer safety as well as to provide regulatory clarity for distributors and healthcare providers.

Lastly, the Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates will analyze the insurance industry's rate-setting practices. It will look into profit margins and regulatory compliance to protect consumers from unwarranted rate increases and to ensure that insurance practices in Georgia remain fair and transparent.

Further details on these committees will be released shortly.
