New Hampstead High School had the highest enrollment among Chatham County schools, welcoming 1,324 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54% of them were male, and 46% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 52% of the New Hampstead High School total enrollment.

Among the 58 schools in Chatham County, Rice Creek School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,125 students, while Godley Station School welcomed 1,099 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

New Hampstead High School is part of Savannah-Chatham County Schools, which generally encompasses schools within Chatham County, with its main office in Bloomingdale.

In the previous school year, New Hampstead High School also had the highest number of students among Chatham County schools.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
